Les Amis du Domaine de Villarceaux ont entrepris la restauration d’un tableau datant du 19e siècle.
Et c’est pour mener à bien la dernière étape de sa remise en état que l’association a lancé un appel aux dons, par le biais du site internet de financement participatif KissKissBankBank.
Tous les financeurs, même les plus modestes, permettront de voir aboutir un projet vieux de deux ans. L’objectif est de collecter au minimum 3 500 euros.
Découvert terne et rongé
C’est dans le sous-sol du château du XVIIIe siècle que ce tableau de grande taille, en mauvais état, a été retrouvé. Il était pratiquement détaché de son cadre, terne et un peu rongé après des années d’abandon.
Après examen, on a découvert qu’il avait été signé par Camille CHAZAL en 1859, peintre parisien et grand-oncle de Paul GAUGUIN.
Ce tableau est une commande de la famille Cartier, pour la chapelle du château de Villarceaux, nouvellement installée dans l’ancien pavillon du garde, réaménagé pour l’occasion dans les années 1850.
Il présente une vierge à l’enfant, sur fond de ciel bleu, tous deux nimbés d’or.
